Fun New Plans for '09
We are doing more to make Plaza Fitness at Stuyvesant Plaza a place you look forward coming
to! In 2009, we have several events planned which offer fun and
fitness with the opportunity to develop new friendships. February
will feature "Around the Plaza," where everyone can
participate. A life-sized board game keeps you motivated to move,
and you'll be able to advance around "the board" by
exercising regularly. Several squares you land on will give you a
coupon from one of our Stuyvesant Plaza merchants. The first person
around the board will receive our grand prize of complimentary personal
training throughout April! We are currently taking sign-ups at
the front desk until we begin on Monday, February 2nd.
In May we are planning a bicycle excursion and in June we will be
inviting you on a high peak hiking adventure. There's no
time to waste, so start training for these excursions for fun,
socialization, and all the benefits of regular exercise.

Jannette began working out at Plaza Fitness almost
2 years ago. Her goals at the time included losing
10 pounds and enhancing her core and upper body strength.
Jannette was looking forward this fall to a Hawaiian vacation in
December, she committed to a frequent exercise schedule to lose
weight. How hard did she work? For 7 weeks, she and James
did intense half-hour training sessions three times a week, followed by
a half-hour of cardio. On her "days off" she followed a
20-40 minute fitness video with another half-hour of cardio. She
took one day off a week.
If you're counting, that's 6 days a week of cardio, which is a lot of
work. But in 7 weeks, she lost 11 pounds! Jannette
wore a bikini for the first time in her life during her vacation, and

Pilates Playground

Penny Shure Joins Plaza Fitness
Penny Shure and Pilates Playground will arrive with a
fully equipped Pilates studio on Monday,
January 12th. Private, duet, and trio sessions are available by
appointment. Group lunchtime mat classess are set to begin Mondays,
Tuesdays, and Thursdays at 11:30 am, and Fridays at 11:00 am. Mat
classes are $15.00 each.
"Although we teach all levels to strengthen their
core 'powerhouse' muscles, we also focus on clients who have
osteopenia and osteoporosis," says Shure. "Anyone who
adds Pilates to their workouts will immediately feel positive results
such as increased flexibility, core strength, and improved
posture."
Pilates Playground at Plaza Fitness is also the location
for the National Osteoporosis Foundation's Albany support group. The group
meetings create opportunities for affected persons to share concerns,
problems, and coping strategies regarding their disease management.
