Announcing the Winners of
"Around The Plaza!"
We have two special
members to congratulate. Matt Amodeo was
first across the finish line, and thanks to his
dedication to exercise he did it in less than one
month! "Man O' Steel" (as his game piece
indicated) generously asked to keep the grand
prize in play, on the condition that we award it
to the first to finish who was positioned
behind square 50 on the day he finished. Keeping
that prize in play kept a lot of people motivated,
including the winner: Bob Shoss!
We also salute the rest of the fine athletes
who made it "Around the Plaza" to the finish
line: Michael Keefrider, Steve Schmelkin,
Jim McKeough, David Doling, Jannette Swanson,
Michelle Kwiatkowski, Faith Fish, Renee Parsons,
Emily Watterworth, Ray Sullivan, and David
W. Congratulations to all who participated
in our fun fitness game, and be sure to thank the
Stuyvesant Plaza merchants who provided your
rewards! Keep moving so those healthy
benefits keep rewarding you!

Success Story
|
| Nancy's got
a lot of good things to show for her hard work the
last year (and we've seen her before and after
photos to prove it)! It was important to her
to build up her endurance and her strength, and to
lose weight, so she could see some improvement in
her tennis game. Nancy's league is very
competitive!
Working with Stephanie once a week has added
variety and the metabolic boost of strength
training to Nancy's own exercise routine.
She's 15 pounds and several inches leaner just
since last September. Her estimated VO2max, a
measurement of how much oxygen the body
utilizes for energy, has climbed from 20.28
mL/kg/min to 30.72 mL/kg/min. This
indicates that both her endurance and her
metabolism have seen significant
improvement! The good news continues,
with Nancy's doctor reducing her blood pressure
medication down to the lowest
dose. Nancy also reports that
she is more energetic in her tennis
play, and that it feels great to make shots
she couldn't reach before!
Training with one of our fitness
professionals could be just the game-changer
you've been looking for. Call 482-2266 to

Healthy Choices:
Peaches Café
Brianna
Harrington, Holistic Health & Nutrition
Counselor |
As we all know, when it comes to optimal
health, preparing our own food is an essential
piece to the puzzle. While this is possible
a majority of the time, there
are opportunities to make healthier
choices when eating out is the only
option. I think the most important thing to
consider when choosing a restaurant is the overall
quality of the food, no matter what is on the
menu. Another essential ingredient is
whether the restaurant is willing to accommodate
special requests. In my search for
restaurants that fit these standards, I
fortunately found some located right in
Stuyvesant Plaza.
One of the area's most beloved
restaurants is Peaches Café, a casual
dining spot that's been part of
Stuyvesant Plaza for over 20 years. Although
many comfort food standards are offered, like
burgers and fries, what is wonderful about Peaches
Café is that it also serves healthier dishes made
from fresh ingredients. Peaches Café also
prides itself on preparing a dish specific to a
customer's needs, so no one has to be intimidated
if they want a different option than what the menu
provides. Here are some examples of
healthier options at Peaches
Café: ˇ Multi Grain Pancakes
With Blueberries Juicy Maine Blueberries in 3
Tasty Multi Grain Pancakes.
ˇ French Omelet Asparagus, Mushroom,
Brie Cheese Tucked into a Fluffy 3 Egg
Omelet. ˇ Warm Vegetable
Sandwich Grilled Portobello Mushrooms, Grilled
Onion, Tomato, Lettuce, Dijonnaise Dressing on 12
Grain Bread. ˇ Grilled
Vegetable Wrap Grilled Eggplant, Zucchini,
Squash, Roasted Pepper, Hummus in a Whole
Wheat Tortilla. Peaches Café also
offers vegetable soups, oatmeal for breakfast and
portabella burgers on special. So if you
find yourself looking to go out with family or
friends for a relaxed dining experience, let
Peaches Café take some of the worry out of your
quest for a healthier
life.
