TRAINING SUCCESS STORY
Back pain and a real concern about restoring some confidence in his mobility brought Michael from his chiropractors’ office to Plaza Fitness for a consultation. Michael suffers from a chronic back condition that has responded well to our exercise recommendations emphasizing stability and mobility. On that sunny day in May when he came in for his initial movement assessments, Michael was so uncomfortable that he could only complete 3 out of the 7 movement screen patterns. Our muscular endurance tests were pretty much out of the question, but Korey and Michael were able to accomplish body composition testing. Michael knew he had some weight to lose, and he also sought to decrease his back pain and improve his core stability and overall health. After training with Korey for a month, there is a pleasantly different story to tell. Usually we recommend a 6 to 8 week interval between re-assessments, but Michael wanted to see some objective results before his European vacation – and results he saw! Michael completed all of the movement screen patterns without pain, increasing his overall score from a 5 to a 13, and he demonstrated a lower risk of injury in 5 out of 7 movement patterns. Michael increased his lean body mass, decreased his fat mass, performed above-average in upper body muscular endurance, and achieved an excellent rating in lower body muscular endurance. Remember, in May he couldn’t complete the endurance tests at all. What does it take to change the quality of your life? LOST AND FOUND ITEMS The lost and found box is bursting at the seams with bottles of hair care products, shorts, reading glasses, towels, brushes, radios and headsets, as well as a few unmentionables. Typically, we give everyone a few weeks to come and retrieve anything they may remember that they lost, before we donate whatever is left to charity. Please come in by July 21st to re-claim your lost items. HOLIDAY CLOSING Plaza Fitness at Stuyvesant Plaza will be closed for Independence Day on Friday, July 4th.
