PERSONAL TRAINING SUCCESS STORY

Ann began exercising at Plaza Fitness last May. She planned to train for a 100 mile bike weekend, and also sought to lose weight, get stronger, and improve her overall shape and muscle tone. Ann’s strength began to increase fairly rapidly, although she wasn’t losing much weight at first. When she began to eat higher quality foods and incorporate the principles of UltraMetabolism, Ann began enjoying a strong, healthy, and energetic lifestyle.

Compare the results of Ann’s initial assessments in July with her most recent follow-up assessments from the end of November: BMI decreased over 6 points; Skinfold body composition improved over 13%; One-mile jog improved by 4.5 minutes; VO2max increased from 40.3 to 46.18; Functional Movement Screen parameters all improved; Weight decreased 32 pounds. Ann has also been able to discontinue her blood pressure and her cholesterol medications, as well as discontinue the use of a CPAP machine for sleep apnea.

HEALTHY TAX MOVES

Did you know that the IRS allows fees paid by individuals for physician-prescribed exercise programs for specific health issues to be considered as a tax-deductible “qualified medical expense?” Some of the specific health issues include hypertension, high cholesterol, type 2 diabetes, obesity, heart disease, breast or prostate cancer, arthritis, osteoporosis, depression, and metabolic syndrome. The deductibility begins once you exceed 7.5% of your adjusted gross income.

You’ll want to discuss an exercise prescription with your primary care physician, and also the deduction with your tax advisor. Whether your expenses qualify for the deduction or not, consistent exercise activity is like compounding healthy dividends!
