Pilates leader Karen Mosley wants you to try a complimentary silver (approximately 25 minutes) Pilates session. This is a great opportunity to sample something you’ve always wanted to try. (This offer is available to members who haven’t previously received a complimentary Pilates session.) Pilates is great for building stability, muscle balance, postural alignment, and core strength. Duets and trios are also available. Just give us a call at 482-2266 for more details. HEALTHY TAX MOVES Did you know that the IRS allows fees paid by individuals for physician-prescribed exercise programs for specific health issues to be considered as a tax-deductible “qualified medical expense?” Some of the specific health issues include hypertension, high cholesterol, type 2 diabetes, obesity, heart disease, breast or prostate cancer, arthritis, osteoporosis, depression, and metabolic syndrome. The deductibility begins once you exceed 7.5% of your adjusted gross income. You’ll
want to discuss an exercise prescription with your primary care physician,
and also the deduction with your tax advisor. Whether your expenses qualify
for the deduction or not, consistent exercise activity is like compounding
healthy dividends! |
