PERSONAL TRAINING SUCCESS STORY

Louellen didn’t expect to be the success story, but her excellent 8-week reassessment results have greatly exceeded even her expectations! It’s been very motivating to focus on the many things she can do since starting her training with Jane this past June.

Low motivation, low energy, and low strength were all standing in the way of the weight loss Louellen wanted. She returned to the Jenny Craig weight loss program, which had worked for her in the past, and she worked with her physician to adjust her thyroid medication. Our initial screening sessions also indicated there was room for improvement in her posture, which showed imbalances that were contributing to her neck pain. After gradually building a basic foundation of muscle strength and tone, Louellen is feeling stronger and more confident in her ability to accomplish more here in the facility and also at home. And while her strength and energy level have increased, she has lost 10 pounds and nearly 9½ inches total from her chest, waist and hips. Challenging new activities incorporating balance work and aerobic intervals have become a regular part of Louellen’s exercise routines, and fitness has earned a new priority in her schedule.

NEW APPROACHES AND NEW GROWTH IN OUR MOVEMENT THERAPY STUDIO

First, let’s talk about Pilates. We’re very pleased to have you help us welcome Karen Mosley to our team of fitness and wellness professionals. Karen is a full-time Pilates specialist, leading both apparatus- and mat-based exercise, and is also an experienced personal trainer and licensed massage therapist who brings a very caring and professional manner to her practice. With Karen’s arrival comes a significant expansion in our availability and equipment for Pilates instruction. Starting October 31st, Karen is available for private one-on-one, duet, and trio Pilates, whether Gold or Silver sessions, on one of our 3 reformers.

That’s right, we’ll have 3 reformer pieces in the Studio, which will lead to a change in our Yoga offering. Our dedicated Yoga leader, the wonderful Laurie Shaw, will be available beginning October 31st for private one-on-one, duet, and trio Yoga sessions. If you’ve been enjoying the Monday evening/Saturday morning group Yoga sessions, you may want to consider teaming up with one or two of your fellow classmates to continue your practice in this new format with Laurie.

Private Pilates or Yoga Gold (50-60 minute) sessions are priced as follows: Single - $65, Duet - $35 each for 2 people, Trio - $25 each for 3 people. Private Pilates or Yoga Silver (25-30 minute) sessions are priced as follows: Single - $35, Duet - $20 each, Trio - $15 each. NOW WE HAVE FITNESS MASSAGE

Did you know our newest fitness professional, Sjohn Brown, is also a licensed massage therapist and instructor at the Center for Natural Wellness School of Massage Therapy? Now, think about how great it would be to follow a challenging workout with a fitness-oriented massage, from a trainer who understands the muscle imbalances and strengths you’re working with. Fitness massage is a clothed massage, supporting the focus on your comfort in our facility. Sjohn is taking appointments for the end of November, for Gold (50-60 minute) sessions at $65, Silver sessions (25-30 minutes) at $35, and Bronze sessions (15 minutes) at $20. Call 482-2266 to schedule your massage, and get ready to relax and recover.

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 2ND IS MEMBER APPRECIATION DAY

You are the reason we are able to celebrate 4 years in operation here at Plaza Fitness at Stuyvesant Plaza.
