GYROTONIC
IN JUNE - - A SPECIAL OFFER Gyrotonic movement not only feels like that while you’re doing the exercise, but it makes your other activities feel like mastered movements... more fluid and focused with less effort. We’d like more people to experience the free, flowing release that Gyrotonic exercise can achieve. Beginning Thursday June 7th and continuing every Thursday in June, Gyrotonic Movement Therapist Hannah Hanlon will be offering complimentary Gyrotonic demonstrations and sessions. If you haven’t tried Gyrotonic before, here’s your chance (and if you have then invite a friend who hasn’t!)... see for yourself how to relieve pain and stress from your joints and muscles through supported, spiral movements. The days and times of the demonstrations are as follows: June 7th,
9:00 am to 12:00 noon; June 14th, 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm; Please call the front desk at 482-2266 to RSVP with your preferred time. And if you can’t make it during any of these times, call anyway -- we can have Hannah contact you and set up a time that’s convenient for you! Gyrotonic in June is going to fill up fast, so call and reserve your time today! PERSONAL
TRAINING SUCCESS STORY Change has come over Robin in the last two months, to be sure! Healthier eating habits, by way of following Ultra-Metabolism recommendations, have helped Robin lose over 18 pounds to date. She has said she’ll never skip breakfast again! In addition she has been getting 5-6 servings of fresh fruits and vegetables a day, and including fish in her diet much more frequently. Jason has been providing guidance and motivation with resistance training three times a week, and Robin has been boosting her cardio-vascular activity up to five times a week for an hour each time (ready for those long walks). She has also enjoyed the way foam rolling and “sticking” have helped with her muscular flexibility and comfort. Do you need help getting over the hump so you can feel and move better? Call 482-2266 and arrange an appointment for a motivating training session with one of our fitness professionals. FUNCTIONAL MOVEMENT SCREENING, OUR NEWEST ASSESSMENT TOOL While we believe at Plaza Fitness that it is important to perform a variety of exercises safely and effectively, our ultimate goal with exercise is to establish healthy movement patterns that allow you to function with optimal health and well-being. The Functional Movement Screen (or FMS) is a great series of measurements which can shed light on faulty movement patterns that may increase your risk of injury or inhibit your performance. Once you’ve completed the FMS we can recommend and guide you through corrective exercises which address muscular imbalances, strengthening weak areas, and stretching tight areas. You’ll move more comfortably and confidently, with attention to your unique balancing needs. Ask any of the fitness professionals and see whether a Functional Movement Screening session will help you move toward your optimal health and movement goals. THE "BUTT" STOPS HERE We’re talking about quitting smoking! Plaza Fitness at Stuyvesant Plaza is hosting a stop-smoking program, beginning Thursday July 19th and continuing every Thursday from 12:00 to 1:00 pm for 7 weeks. A professional cessation counselor from Seton Health will conduct the group sessions, which cost $75 per person for all 7 weeks. Included in the fee are workbooks, an 8-week supply of nicotine patches or gum, a carbon monoxide screening, and free giveaways and incentives. We want to help you kick the habit for good, but space is limited so register early. Call 482-2266 to register today! MEDIA MOVES Kyle Jenks
