STAYING
ACTIVE ALL SUMMER
The weather is warming at last, and with a better climate for outdoor
activity you may find yourself less inclined to accomplish all your workouts
indoors. Well…that’s great! Hopefully your indoor exercise
has you feeling well conditioned and really ready to enjoy the wide array
of recreational opportunities and outdoor events the summer brings us!
But don’t forget that while your outdoor hiking, biking , paddling,
and jogging will keep you in good cardio-vascular form, only consistent
resistance training will maintain your lean mass and strength gains. A
minimum of two sessions a week is all it takes to keep your muscular condition.
If you’re looking to stay on target with your strength goals this
summer, take a look around at Plaza Fitness…we have ActivTrax, we
have personal training, we have Group Training…there’s something
for you!
PERSONAL
TRAINING SUCCESS STORY
Rita worked with a personal trainer years ago but had trouble sticking
with regular exercise, and was frustrated with her weight gain, a degenerative
knee condition, chronic back pain following a surgery, and a loss of upper
body strength. Indeed, who wouldn’t be frustrated by all this? In
addition, fitting fitness in from April through September, the busy months
for her business, posed a significant challenge for Rita. Getting healthy
habits started in January, Rita and Jane began with a Polar heart rate
monitor to ensure the proper intensity of cardiovascular workouts here
in the facility and during planned outdoor walks and hikes. With one day
a week of supervised weight training, incorporating modifications for
her knees and back, one more day of weight training on her own, and another
day or two of cardio per week, Rita is receiving all kinds of compliments
from friends and family on her progress! She’s lost nearly 4% body
fat, taken inches off almost all her circumference measurements, and improved
her upper body strength, core performance, and overall flexibility (even
her back and knees). Rita is making fitness a priority and maintaining
a healthy schedule even during her busy season.

RESULTS
WITH ACTIVTRAX
Regularly
scheduled assessments with ActivTrax are a great way to stay focused on
the areas of fitness you really want to change, and ActivTrax responds
with new workout recommendations based on your accomplishments. Ellen’s
resistance training level began at Level One last August and increased
to a Level Three in March, based on the consistent strength improvements
shown in her first two reassessments. Meanwhile her body fat composition
dropped over 5%, and she improved upon her already superior aerobic capacity.
Find out today how ActivTrax can keep you moving forward!
